Privacy Policy

Off Grid Caribbean is a reading site. You do not need an account, and we collect as little as we can. This page explains what is collected when you visit, what stays on your own device, and what happens when you follow a link to someone else.

What is collected when you visit

Like any website, our hosting servers record basic technical information with each visit: your IP address, the browser and device you use, the page you asked for, and the time. This is used to deliver pages, keep the site secure and fix problems. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

We keep a log of addresses on this site that return “page not found” so we can fix broken links. That log can include the IP address and browser of the visit that found the broken link.

What stays on your device

Some tools, like the packing checklist, remember your ticks so you can come back to them. That information is saved in your own browser on your own device. It is not sent to us, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

Cookies

Reading the site does not require cookies. The site may set technical cookies to load pages quickly and securely. If we add analytics or advertising in future, we will update this page before we do.

Links to other websites

We link to airlines, operators, government offices and shops. When you follow a link, you leave this site and that website’s own privacy policy applies.

Some of those links are affiliate links. If you follow one, the shop may set its own cookie so it can tell us a purchase came from this site and pay a commission. We receive a record of the sale, not your name, address or payment details. Pages with affiliate links say so near the top.

Maps, photos and embedded content

If a page embeds content from another service, such as a map or a video, that service may collect information about your visit as if you had visited it directly.

If you write to us

If you send us a correction, a tip or a question, we keep your message and your contact details so we can reply and check what you told us. We do not sell or share them, and we will delete them if you ask.

Your choices

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it for legal or security reasons. You can also clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings.
